Currencyflow exchange rates, margins and fees
Currencyflow uses clear, transparent pricing for international transfers.
Your Currencyflow exchange rate is calculated from the current mid-market exchange rate, with a margin applied according to the value of your transfer. Larger transfers generally receive a lower margin and therefore a better exchange rate.
We charge no payment transfer fees.

What is the Currencyflow indicative rate?
The Currencyflow indicative rate is our standard reference exchange rate for comparing Currencyflow pricing across currencies.
It is based on a reference transfer value of £50,000 or the equivalent in the currency being sent.
For GBP transfers, a £50,000 transfer currently uses a 0.30% margin.
Your actual Currencyflow exchange rate may be slightly higher or lower than the indicative rate depending on the amount you send and the market rate when you book.
How Currencyflow exchange rates work
There are two rates to understand when comparing an international transfer.
Mid-market exchange rate
The mid-market exchange rate is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices in the global foreign exchange market.
It is a useful benchmark for comparing currencies, but it is not generally the exchange rate a customer receives when sending money.
Currencyflow exchange rate
Your Currencyflow exchange rate is based on the current mid-market rate, with our margin applied.
The margin varies according to the value of your transfer. Larger transfers generally receive lower margins.
The rate and the amount your recipient will receive are shown to you before you commit to a transfer.
Currencyflow margins by transfer value
Our margin varies according to transfer size.
The following examples show the margins currently used for common GBP transfer values:
| Example transfer value | Margin |
|---|---|
| £5,000 | 0.40% |
| £10,000 | 0.40% |
| £20,000 | 0.40% |
| £50,000 - Currencyflow indicative rate reference value | 0.30% |
| £75,000 | 0.28% |
| £100,000 | 0.28% |
| £200,000 | 0.25% |
| £300,000 | 0.25% |
| £500,000 | 0.25% |
| £1,000,000 | 0.25% |
These are example transfer values rather than a statement of pricing-band boundaries. Your applicable rate is shown before you book.
For transfers in currencies other than GBP, the equivalent transfer value in the send currency is used to determine the applicable margin.

Example: how a Currencyflow rate is calculated
Suppose the current GBP to EUR mid-market rate is:
1 GBP = 1.1653 EUR
For a £50,000 transfer, Currencyflow applies a 0.30% margin.
The resulting Currencyflow indicative rate would be approximately:
1 GBP = 1.1618 EUR
This means a £50,000 transfer would provide approximately:
£50,000 = €58,092
The actual rate available when you transfer will depend on the market rate at that time and the value of your transfer.
Does Currencyflow charge transfer fees?
No. Currencyflow does not charge payment transfer fees.
Our cost is included in the transparent margin applied to your exchange rate.
You will see your exchange rate and how much your recipient will receive before you commit to your transfer.
Why does the rate vary by transfer amount?
Currencyflow's margin varies according to the value of your transfer.
Larger transfers generally receive a lower margin, which means the Currencyflow exchange rate is closer to the mid-market exchange rate.
This is why your actual Currencyflow rate may be slightly higher or lower than the standard Currencyflow indicative rate shown on our website.
